Diversity & Inclusion

The core of our business is to empower and nurture the human spirit - every human spirit.

Ingrained in the Barre & Soul culture, we embrace and encourage differences in age, color, gender identity or expression, national origin, ethnicity, family or marital status, language, ability, political affiliation, race, religion, sexual orientation, veteran status and other characteristics that make our studio communities unique.

You belong here - Sweat in peace

All employees and clients of Barre & Soul have a responsibility to treat others with dignity and respect at all times. Inclusion of diverse experiences and perspectives creates a culture of empowerment, and that, is where we grow. We strive to create a culture of belonging.

Barre & Soul is actively innovating to create a more inclusive community

It is unfortunately true that boutique fitness can feel elitist, exclusive and on a industry-level lacks representation from people of color and other historically underrepresented groups. This is not okay. We want to create systemic change. Our team is actively seeking instructors and staff of diverse backgrounds to allow all types of people to see others like them in our studios. And we continue to rework how we build community and educate our team and teachers.

It is important to recognize and talk about the lack of accessibility and inclusivity within yoga and boutique fitness. Help us stand in that gap for people of color, historically underrepresented groups and LGBTQ+ communities.

We Stand in Solidarity

Standing with the BIPOC community

We believe strongly in the diversification of the yoga community. Black Lives Matter is an important movement we support, further, we hold space for potentially uncomfortable conversations that enable us to gain greater understanding, appreciation of differences and find courage to create a more equitable environment.

Standing with Feminism

Women’s empowerment is kind of our shtick. Barre & Soul Founder, Andrea Isabelle Lucas has journeyed from a teen single mom, domestic violence and personal poverty survivor, former stripper to the creator of the Barre & Soul studios, Barre & Soul Academy the premier online Barre certification as well as a keynote speaker and coach with a degree in Women’s Studies. Feminist and unapologetic about it. She’s committed to building your strength, passion and ability to ‘Own it All.”

Standing with the LGBTQ+ Community

We respect, acknowledge and support LGBTQ+ identities and are committed to continued learning and allyship. You’ll see our pronouns listed next to instructor names when booking a class and on our email signatures. We invite you to share yours back. It can be unintentionally offensive or harmful to guess at someone’s pronouns and use them assuming that’s how they want to be known. If you want to read more about pronouns, peep our article here.
