Meet Barre & Soul's Creator, Andrea Isabelle Lucas
Andrea has two great passions: women’s issues and mind body wellness. She began taking barre classes in 2006, while pregnant with her second child. Less than a year after giving birth, she was in the best shape of her life – physically, mentally and spiritually – despite the fact that she was going through a long and difficult divorce. She had finally begun living in her body.
Andrea has taught thousands of barre classes since 2007 and has become a leader in this branch of the fitness world. She formerly served as Mind Body Manager for exhale spa, where she led their 275-hour barre teacher trainings and has been a resource on barre fitness for various media such as lululemon athletica's blog and Boston Magazine.
She completed her 200-hour yoga teacher training in PranaVayu Yoga with founder David Magone, holds a B.A. in Women's Studies from Lesley University, has traveled to Haiti to study the use of yoga to heal trauma, and has even studied aerial yoga and performed in a circus and burlesque troupe.
Andrea has had the opportunity to gain wisdom through difficult experiences like teenage parenthood, divorce and domestic violence and through these trials she has gained strength. It is her hope and mission to empower others through Barre & Soul to overcome their internal and external challenges and to live fit, fun and happy lives.
She is passionate about personal empowerment and promoting positive body image and brings her background in Women’s Studies to bear on all of her work. Because you are so much more than just a body.
