This post is brought to you by a pair of Hogwarts pajama pants that I've been wearing since noon. Today, even leaving the house feels challenging. Although I’m sure we are not unanimous in our political views, I think it is safe to say that the majority of us are in shock after last night's results.

I share in your disbelief. My heart was heavy as I woke my kids up for school this morning. Our conversations were hard. I want them to feel safe, and to believe that everything is going to be OK, even when I myself need to be convinced that this is true.

I want you to know what Barre & Soul is committed to. I have always been vocal about my passion for women’s rights and for promoting equality for all minorities and marginalized people, and I want our community to know these are the values Barre & soul was built on. I’m determined to spread this message in the most loving and inclusive way possible, to respect other’s points of view and recognize that we are all doing our best and each dealing with our own suffering. We won’t bash anyone or contribute to fear and hatred. We are pro-equality and pro-empowerment.

You may be wondering why I, as a business owner, find it necessary to make a statement today. The reason is simple. Barre & Soul exists to do good. This company was made for moments like this. This is the real work, healing and empowering each little corner of the world that we can, in the hopes of rippling out to create positive changes on a larger scale. We are just getting started.

This country has a long way to go before everyone is equal. That bothers me, deeply. I plan to stay bothered. Do you? We've got our work cut out for us, but we can do this. We've got each other.

Are you struggling today? If so, please know that I'm with you. I'd love to hear from you over on Facebook.

Love,

Andrea Isabelle Lucas
